I designed this shawlette because I fell in love with the colors the moment I saw this yarn in the store. If you are looking for an easy one skein project then this is perfect for you!
Fun fact: This pattern is made up of only one stitch 🙂

Pattern chart
Notes:
- The number of repeats shown in the chart is less than the actual number of repeats.
- The row number is mentioned at the right side for each row.
Pattern notes
- This pattern is written in US terms.
- In Part C, make the chains of the beginning dc a little loose as compared to your Part A chains.
- If you are a beginner and are not comfortable with aligning the different parts of the chart together, it will be best to follow the written instructions while reading the charts.
- When the pattern calls for working the next stitch in the last dc, which was a ch3 in the previous row, work the stitch in the 3rd chain.
- The number of stitches at the end of every row are mentioned in brackets at the end of each row.
- dcinc counts as 2 sts
- dcdec counts as 1 st
- the first 3 chain sts in a row count as 1 st
- every other ch st counts as 1 st each
Pattern repetitions
rep1: dcinc in dc, dc in the next two dc, dcdec next dc and next dcdec, ch2, dc in next dc (or 2nd ch if previous round has ch4-sp), ch2 [5 dc, 1 dcdec, 2 ch2-sp = 10 sts]
rep2: ch2, dc in next dc (or 3rd ch if previous round has ch4-sp), ch2, dcdec next dc dec and next dc, dc in the next two dc, dcinc in dc [5 dc, 1 dcdec, 2 ch2-sp = 10 sts]
Notes:
- In rep1, replace the first dcinc with dcinc-beg if a row starts with rep1
- rep1 and rep2 are the same pattern but made in different directions . rep 1 goes from Side 1 to Side 2 and rep 2 goes from Side 2 to Side 1.
Instructions (Part B)
Row 39: dcdec-beg first two dc, dc in the next two dc, dcinc in next dc, rep2 * 7 times, turn [75 sts]
Row 40: dcinc-beg in first dc, dc in the next two dc, dcdec next dc and dcdec, rep1 * 7 times, turn [75 sts]
Repeat rows 39 and 40 until row 72.

Hi, I love the look of this pattern, but was wondering if it could be worked in a rectangle only, without the side panels (A and C) .. I’m going to try a sample swatch to figure out the pattern .. hope I can make it work .. thanks fir your time, Erica

Hello Erica,
It is possible to work this shawlette in a rectangle only. You can start with a chain 75 and follow the instructions for Part B and not make Part C at all. If you need any help with it, please feel free to reach out to me.
Cheers, Arunima
