‘The Heart of Christmas’ – Snowflakes (Large)

This is the largest of the 3 sizes of ‘The Heart of Christmas’ pattern. It is made up of a bunch of snowflakes!! I used to live in the East coast and Christmas there was always white. Snowflakes remind me of the time I spent there and that’s the reason why I picked snowflakes for this cozy 🙂

What you will need

  1. Yarn: Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors.
    • I used Lily Sugar ’n Cream Yarn – The yardage mentioned below is for all three cozies combined.
      1. Red: 3 oz / 90 g / 135 m / 150 yards (2 skeins)
      2. White: 2 oz / 60 g / 90 m / 100 yards (1 skein)
  1. Hook: 5 mm (H) crochet hook
  2. Scissors
  3. Stitch markers (optional)
  4. Tapestry needle to weave in tails

Experience level

Intermediate

Dimensions

The medium size fits a 16 oz Ball jar with dimensions:
Diameter – 3.5” / 9 cms
Height – 6” / 15 cms

Gauge

10 rows of 10 Single Crochet stitches is a 2.5 inch (6.5 cms) square.

Note: I make my Waistcoat Stitches very loose as compared to Single Crochet stitches. The given gauge will hold true for the base of the cozies only. The gauge for the rest of the pattern is different and if you have the base diameter close to mine, the Waistcoat Section should work out fine. You can switch to a larger hook for the Waistcoat Stitch section if that is more comfortable for you.

Abbreviations

You can find my stitch guide with all the abbreviations here.

Pattern notes

  1. This pattern is written in US terms.
  2. This pattern is worked in a continuous round.
  3. Tip: Since this pattern is worked in a continuous round, it is helpful to mark the first stitch of the round with a stitch marker.
