Alite Doily – Free Crochet Pattern

Alite Doily is a free crochet pattern. This doily is made with 4 colors - red, maroon, cream and orange.

The Alite Doily is a beginner friendly doily pattern that is worked in 10 rounds. This is easy to make and can work up really quickly!

Hi, my name is Tayu and I come from Indonesia. Designing is really new thing for me. But with a help of a friend finally I encourage my self to start design. And here is one of my tiny mandala. Hope you all enjoy it. Happy crocheting.

Sizing

The pictured doily measures 25 cms in diameter.

Abbreviations

ch : chain
dc : double crochet
sc : single crochet
sp /sps : space / spaces
st / sts : stitch / stitches
tr : treble crochet
yo: yarn over

Special Stitches

2dc cl (cluster of 2 double crochet): yo, insert hook in indicated st/sp, yo, pull through, yo, insert hook in same st/sp, yo, pull through, yo, pull through all loops.
BPdc (back post double crochet) = yo, insert hook around indicated st from back to front and back again, finish as normal dc.
FPsc (front post single crochet): insert hook around indicated st from front to back and front again, finish as normal sc.
FPdc (front post double crochet) = yo, insert hook around indicated st from front to back and front again, finish as normal dc.
Picot = ch 3, slst in 3rd loop from hook.

Gauge

After 3 rounds, the doily measures 10 cms in diameter.

Pattern Notes

Ch 1 doesn’t count as st, unless mention otherwise.
Start new round with standing st.
End every round with invisible join.

Instructions

Round 1

With A make magic ring, ch 8 (count as tr and ch-4 sp), *(tr, ch 4) 5 times in same ring, join. Fasten off A.
Total: 6 tr, 6 ch-4 sps

Round 2

Join B in any ch-4 sp.
(2dc cl, ch 2) 2 times, 2dc cl) in same ch sp, skip tr, *(2dc cl, ch 2) 2 times, 2dc cl) in next ch sp, skip tr, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off B.
Total: 18 2dc cl, 12 ch-2 sps

Round 3

Join C in any tr of Round 1.
FPdc around same, (FPsc around next 2dc cl, ch 2, 2dc cl in next ch-2 sp, ch 2) 2 times, FPsc around next 2dc cl, *FPdc around next tr of Round 1, (FPsc around next 2dc cl, ch 2, 2dc cl in next ch-2 sp, ch 2) 2 times, FPsc around next 2dc cl, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off C.
Total: 18 FPsc, 6 FPdc, 12 2dc cl, 24 ch-2 sps

Round 4

Join B in any 2dc cl.
Working only in 2dc cl, skip others, ch 1, FPsc around same, ch 5, *FPsc around next 2dc cl, ch 5, repeat from * around, join. Do NOT fasten off.
Total: 12 FPsc, 12 ch-5 sps

Round 5

Round 5: Ch 1, FPsc around same, 7 dc in next ch-5 sp (place marker in 1st dc), FPsc around next FPsc, ch 3, 2dc cl in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, *FPsc around next FPsc, 7 dc in next ch sp, FPsc around next st, ch 3, 2dc cl in next ch-5 sp, ch 3, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off B.
Total: 6 2dc cl, 42 dc, 12 FPsc, 12 ch-3 sps

Round 6

Join A in marked st.
Ch 1, BPdc around same, BPdc around next 6 sts, skip FPsc, 4 dc in next ch-3 sp, skip 2dc cl, 4 dc in next ch-3 sp, skip FPsc, *BPdc around 7 sts, skip FPsc, 4 dc in next ch-3 sp, skip 2dc cl, 4 dc in next ch-3 sp, skip FPsc, repeat from * around, join. Do NOT fasten off.
Total: 42 BPdc, 48 dc

Round 7

Ch 3, dc in each st around, join. Fasten off A.
Total: 90 dc

Round 8

Join C in any st, 2dc cl in same, ch 2, skip 1 st, *2dc cl in next st, ch 2, skip 1 st, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off C.
Total: 45 2dc cl, 45 ch-2 sps

Rounds 9 and 10

Round 9: Join A in any skipped dc of Round 7.
ch 1, FPsc around same, ch 3 (place marker), working round in front of work, FPsc around next 2dc cl, ch 3, *FPsc around next, ch 3 (place marker), FPsc around next 2dc cl, ch 3, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off A.
Total: 90 FPsc, 90 ch-3 sps

Round 10: Join B in marked ch sp.
ch 1, 2 sc in same, picot, skip FPsc, 2 sc in next ch sp, skip FPsc, *2 sc in next ch sp, picot, skip FPsc, 2 sc in next ch sp, skip FPsc, repeat from * around, join. Fasten off B, weave in the end. Blocking optional.
Total: 45 picot, 180 sc
