The Tunisian Simple Stitch or the Tunisian Afghan Stitch is the simplest stitch in Tunisian crochet. It is elegant and builds a very beautiful fabric.
There is a small modification that can be made to these stitches and it builds a significantly different fabric.
Though it takes slightly longer to make each stitch, I like the fabric built by Modified Tunisian Simple Stitches better than the fabric built by Tunisian Simple Stitches because it does not curl as much and the back is so much more neat and pretty.
The video tutorials below show 2 different ways of making these stitches.
The hook
There are a bunch of different Tunisian crochet hooks available for purchase. You can read about the hooks I use here. Because of the nature of Tunisian crochet stitches, I recommend using a hook that is at least 2 sizes larger than the recommended hook on the yarn.
