Hello, and welcome to the Maya Cardigan CAL! This Crochet-A-long will be hosted in the Hooked on Tunisian Crochet Facebook group where I will go live and answer any questions you have. You can also follow along on my website, Ravelry, or via email—whichever works best for you. I’m so glad to have you join us!
You might recognize the colors from my Three Little Kittens Blanket. This cardigan turned out to be a happy accident because I wanted to use up the leftover yarn from the blanket—I had ordered a lot! I love how it turned out, and it has quickly become one of my favorite pieces. I’ve worn it a few times, and I’ve received so many compliments. Now, all my friends want me to make one for them too!
You can plan your colors or use up your scraps—this pattern will look great no matter what you choose! I hope you’re looking forward to this CAL as much as I am. Let’s make some beautiful cardigans together!

Maya Cardigan CAL
In this post, you’ll find all the general information you need, like sizing, yarn, and hook requirements. I’m announcing this two weeks in advance to give everyone enough time to choose and order their yarn. The pattern will be released on August 14th, but in the meantime, feel free to practice working in the round. The pattern will include video support, so it’s not required, but I do have a course that teaches you how to work in the round, which is a great starting point if you haven’t done it before. If you’re already familiar with working in the round, this pattern should be very easy to follow!

Experience Level
Intermediate – This pattern assumes you are familiar with the basics of starting and finishing a Tunisian crochet project, as well as working in the round.
Tunisian-In-The-Round
This technique uses a double-ended hook, with one end for the forward pass and the other for the return pass, creating a continuous spiral. What’s great is you can create intricate, beautiful colorwork patterns without changing colors during either pass. The forward pass is worked entirely in one color, and the return pass in another, allowing for stunning designs!
What you will need
- Yarn: I used KnitPicks Brava Worsted yarn in colors Black, Sienna, Cream, Brindle, and Almond. See the Sizing section below for yardage. (Use coupon CARDICAL to get a 20% discount valid until 8/20/24)
- Hook: A double ended Tunisian crochet hook that meets gauge. I built a double ended hook using the following two hook sizes (Use coupon KKCALDENISE15% to get a 15% discount):
- 8 mm (L – 11) for the forward pass.
- 6.5 mm (K – 10.5) for the return pass.
- Scissors
- Tapestry needle to weave in tails
- Stitch markers (optional)
Other hook options:
- Knitter’s Pride Ginger Interchangeable Hook Set
- Clover Takumi Interchangeable Hook Set
- Chiaogoo Interchangeable Hook Set
- Clover Double Ended Hook

@Arunima, Hello Arunima, finally finished the Cardigan and it's wonderful. I had to change the pattern a little to fit my size and skipted the Back Extension. You can see the pictures in ravelry and hobbii:
